Abstract

The generally accepted view of the researchers of Oscar Wilde's life is that the writer became a victim of those legislatively approved norms in society that limited a person as a person. In the article, the author makes an attempt to psychoanalytically comprehend the biography of the writer, and, relying on the concepts of modern psychoanalytic theory, to show that Oscar Wilde’s fate was determined by such factors as mental functioning, transgenerational history, etc. human contradictions.
