Time and Psyche
Psychoanalytical concepts
Abstract
This article is devoted to the psychoanalytic study of time. The author tries to understand such questions as:
– if time is universal for everyone, why does each of us experience it in our own way?
– is external time really objective, or can a person never go beyond his or her subjectivity?
– what is the subjectivisation of time and can it be viewed through the prism of relations with the internal object?
– how does the phenomenon of time acceleration affect the psyche of a modern person?
For a comprehensive study of these questions, not only psychoanalytical theories of psyche time, but also modern concepts of sociology, philosophy about the acceleration of time and society were analysed. As a result, the author formulates a definition of subjectification of time, proving the connection of the subject's time with its relationship with the object, which allows to take the category of time from the dimension of an ideal philosophical construction into the analytical space. This opens up more possibilities for analysing how patients deal with their time in life and in sessions.
