Abstract

Narcissistic Personality Disorder is a pathology of modern times. Calling “narcissus” of any body is heard more often than ever while the person who is telling it generally doesn’t understands its meaning correctly. Analysts are paying more attention to Narcissistic Personality Disorders, they talk and write a lot about it, since this pathology has become more common than others. It is mentioned the main psychoanalytic concepts of narcissism in the article. It is carried out the analysis of the life of the Spanish writer Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra and its connection with the hero of his famous novel, Don Quixote. Special attention is paid to the "knight of the rueful countenance" and his interaction with the main characters of the novel. The article reflects the main point of the narcissistic personality - the impossibility of existing without an object in whose eyes it finds its reflection and confirmation of its existence. Don Quixote and Sancho Panza are two halves of a whole - a continuation of one another.
