Abstract

Emotional burnout is a popular concept in the modern world. To date, the main object of studying burnout has been its symptomatic side. As a rule, definitions are reduced to combining symptoms that arise in the context of work activity. This article presents the psychoanalytic aspects of burnout with a study of existing psychoanalytic concepts of burnout conducted. Based on the analysis of different points of view on burnout, as well as the analysis of interviews with burned-out specialists, we traced the causal dynamics of burnout in the relationship between one agent and another. There are various dynamic processes that cause burnout and similar symptoms can tell us about different dynamics of its occurrence. In the course of the study we came to an important conclusion that burnout occurs as a result of a certain set of organisational and personal factors that may be individual for each person. Psychoanalytic concepts reflect the deeper aspect of the phenomenon of burnout associated with the conflict between conscious needs and unconscious aspirations.
