Psychoanalysis and interior
Applied psychoanalytic research
Abstract
Symbols and metaphors associated with house have accompanied psychoanalysis literally from its inception: Breuer's patient Anna O called her treatment "chimney- sweeping". Is that now a time to take a closer look at housing, architecture and interior from the psychoanalytic point of view? This article provides a theoretical analysis of the psychoanalytic works of the classics of psychoanalysis, as well as modern psychoanalytic works, which contain information about the relationship of the human psyche with his home, architecture, routine, home furnishings and interior items. The information obtained and the conclusions drawn on its basis are applied to information about modern ideas about the interior, housing and space. The article is based on the idea that any actions that an individual performs with his home, any events that occur with the place where he lives, as well as objects, technologies and style features that surround him, have their own interpretation, which is always relevant to what goes on in the unconscious of that individual.
