Abstract

The topic of the formation of a dream, the role of a dream in the mental functioning of the subject and work with dreams in the course of psychoanalysis has been the key subject from the very beginning of the formation of the psychoanalytic method. It is with the work of S. Freud "The Interpretation of Dreams" that the history of psychoanalysis begins. The ideas of the founder of psychoanalysis about the work of the dream gradually developed, and his followers made significant contributions in the understanding of the functions of the dream. This article proposes a systematization of classical and modern ideas about the dream work, one of the main tasks of which is mental transformation.
